Urania Observatory Zurich
For over 100 years, the Urania Observatory has been part of the cultural life of the city of Zurich. Dare to take a look into the vastness of the universe with your team. During a private guided tour you will learn interesting facts about planets, signs of the zodiac and astronomical events.
Urania Observatory Zurich – a glimpse into the fascinating universe
The Urania Observatory is located in the center of Zurich. If you are in town for a meeting or conference, this excursion with your team is an ideal social program. What distinguishes stars from planets? How many moons does Jupiter have? Admire satellite images of astronauts’ footprints on the moon. Under the majestic wooden dome of the observatory, demonstrators give an insight into astronomy and explain exciting facts about the universe. In doing so, they address specific questions or point out special features that are visible that day. When the sky is clear, visitors can make their own observations through the telescope.
In the 50 meter high tower of the listed building, you have a wonderful view over the city of Zurich. The atmosphere under the majestic dome of the observatory and the lectures supported by pictures and animations are worthwhile in any weather. The observatory is not heated and warm clothing is recommended during the cold season. Guided tours take place in any weather. Up to 40 visitors can take part in a guided tour of the Urania Observatory Zurich.
The observatory does not have its own infrastructure. If you are interested in an aperitif in the Jules Verne Bar or a meal and booking of seminar rooms in the Brasserie Lipp, we will be happy to help you.
